Brewery and bar with a great story. The whole place is staffed by patients from the mental health hospital in town and it's a fantastic way to give meaning and purpose to a group of people often overlooked by the rest of society

The biggest and most opulent cathedral we've ever been to. Absolute must!

Old castle with a dark and troubled history. 

Cliffords Tower

Awesome cocktail bar with a pop up kitchen in the back. Great hangout spot!

Dragonfly

Medieval castle overlooking the city. One of the better castles we've visited on our travels. 

Edinburgh Castle

Small street market with a variety of independent shops. Jen found a lovely little quirky boutique called Om Diva

Georges Street Arcade 

Small ice cream shop with unique flavors. Cardamum and orange was fantastic.

Gocce di latte

Very artsy and laid back hole in the wall bar that specializes in mixing fresh fruit juice and wine.

Goupil Le Fol

A must do tour of the old Guiness factory. Very informative on the history of Guiness and how its made. We recommend the extra ticket for the 'Guiness Academy' class. You get to pour your own pint. 

Guiness Storehouse

Delicious, cheap hand-pies. Great for a quick bit on the go.

Hanley's Cornish Pasties

Cute little museum with clocks and time pieces from throughout history

Irish Museum of Time

Old castle with restored interior. The whole city was a great place to spend a day or two. https://kilkennycastle.ie/

Kilkenny Castle

Some of the best tapas we've ever had. If you don't have reservations, get there early , 15 to 20 minutes before they open and get a seat at the bar.

La Brunilda Tapas

Hole in the wall restaurant with good food and great atmosphere.

L'Alcoba Azul - Tapes

Wonderful Italian restaurant where the import Italian grandmas direct from different areas of Italy for a rotation of authentic Italian home cooked meals

La mia Mamma

Old german WW2 battery and pill boxes along the d-day beaches.

Longues-sur-Mer battery

Local chain with some of the best pastel de nata. These are tarts filled with egg custard & topped with cinnamon

Manteigaria

Intimate spot for homemade food and fado singing. Great date night. 

Maria da Mouraria - Casa de Fados

This is a must see if you can get to it. The wonders of human ingenuity and building on full display.

Famous opera house with extremely ornate decorations

A nice quiet spot to bring lunch or just relax in the remains of a church lost in the Battle of Britain.

St Dunstan in the East Church Garden

Best sangria I've ever had and not overly sweet like most you get in the US. The old barrels that were used by locals to buy wine by the liter was very cool.

Taberna Alipio Ramos

One of the coolest libraries I've ever seen. Holds Gospels from 800AD.

The Old Library at Trinity College

Good local spot for in house beers and meat pies.

The Raven

Bar / show space with multiple bars and an upbeat atmosphere. Great for a rowdy night out. 

The Three Sisters Bar

The oldest bar in Edinburgh with plenty of history and ghost stories.

The White Heart Inn

Cool tour with the histoy of chocolate in York and England in general

York's Chocolate Story

Ornate church that was originally built by two brothers for themselves. Has some very cool skeleton sculptures. 

Asamkirche

Great food in an old open air market. Everything from restaurants to local produce vendors. We highly recommend the hot dogs at Whiskey Ginger.

Borough Market

Fantastic spot for local Venetian snack cicchetti and wine.

Cantine del Vino già Schiavi

Church with free entry that has an amazing fresco on the ceiling.

Chiesa di San Pantalon

A really good hike up the side of Edinburgh proper. A great vantage point to see the whole city 

Arthur's Seat

Turreted, 19th-century, hilltop castle built for King Ludwig II and inspiration for Cinderella castle in Disneyland

Neuschwanstein Castle

Largest gothic cathedral in northern Europe.  Impressively kept up by a stone masons guild that still hand carves everything.  

York Minster

One of the most beautiful drives I've ever taken. This winding pass overlooks the whole Dingle peninsula and the scenery cannot be beat. Be carful on the top section, it's only wide enough for one car at a time an you'll need to watch for cars coming from the other direction.
